CREDIT: Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic via Getty Images Better Caul Saul actor John Christian Love recently shared that he was working as an Amazon delivery driver, after struggling to find work as an actor. He’s known for playing Ernesto in the Breaking Bad spin-off, previously credited as Brandon K Hampton, but recently revealed his career pivot on Reddit. In the subreddit AmazonDSPDrivers, he wrote a post titled “Delivering smiles & autographs.” Advertisement “Hey it’s me John Christian Love” he continued. “Just want yall to know that as the actor who brought you the character ‘Ernesto/Ernie’ in Better Call Saul, that I too am out here delivering with you! It sucks. But 1 delivery at a time. Be blessed out there! #ImissTheMailroom.” He included a picture of himself in the driver’s seat of an Amazon van, as well as a signed photo of himself from the show. Delivering Smiles & Autographs byu/thatonetv-filmlover inAmazonDSPDrivers Responding to a comment about how he came to work for the delivery company, he replied: “I haven’t given up on [acting], just really slow right now. And BCS wasn’t the breakout I was hoping [for].” When discussing recent acting projects, he wrote: “Did a significant film working opposite Lily Gladstone / Bryan Cranston but film ran out of money and I was never paid,” alluding to the drama Lone Wolf, which ceased production last year after issues with budget, leaving cast and crew unpaid. Recommended Love was, however, very complimentary about Better Call Saul Star Bob Odenkirk. When asked about working with the actor, he replied: “Great guy, very hard worker, was memorizing a full episodic script every nine days or so and then doing standup on weekends, etc… nothing bad to say.” The challenges of the entertainment industry and larger economy have meant many actors find themselves struggling financially between jobs. Pedro Pascal and Colman Domingo have both spoken about nearly quitting the industry after being frustrated with their progress, while actors the public may presume were wealthy have revealed financial difficulties. Mickey Rourke’s manager recently set up a GoFundMe to prevent the actor from being evicted, while the late James Van Der Beek’s family launched a crowdfunding campaign after medical treatment left them “facing an uncertain future”.
