NewsMusic News Jonny Greenwood “surprised” Radiohead enjoyed comeback tour so much and talks chances of new material “It was really nice to be playing and listening to Thom again" By Alex Rigotti 19th February 2026 Radiohead, live in Madrid, 2025. Credit: Alex Lake Jonny Greenwood has spoken about chances of new Radiohead material – adding that he was “surprised” the band enjoyed their comeback tour so much. READ MORE: Radiohead live in London: a generous and visceral hit parade (of sorts) In a new interview with The Telegraph, the guitarist spoke about the band’s first shows in seven years, which consisted of four-night residencies in each of Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin last November and December. The tour saw them play in the round, picking from a range of 65 songs every night. Advertisement “It was great to revisit songs that we always felt were good and to find lots of other people now agree with us,” Greenwood told The Telegraph. “And it was really nice to be playing and listening to Thom [Yorke] again. But I found it strange not to be doing anything new on the tour.” He then addressed speculation that Radiohead might release new music, as the band haven’t released music since their 2016 album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool‘. Greenwood acknowledged that all members are “doing new music elsewhere now” – with the guitarist nominated for an Oscar for scoring One Battle After Another. He went on to say that he had “no idea” whether Radiohead might release new material. “I mean, I’m surprised that the tour actually happened and that we all enjoyed it so much,” he said. “But venues get booked so far in advance. To do another we would have to decide now, and even then it wouldn’t happen for 18 months.” Recommended We last spoke to Jonny in 2024, where he confirmed comments from his brother and bandmate Colin that Radiohead were rehearsing. He told us that the reunion was “fun and natural”, adding that “there are no plans” to record new music. The reunion shows saw Radiohead break the attendance record for London’s O2, surpassing Metallica, who have held the title since 2017. In London, the band’s comeback shows raised money for the LIVE Trust, which represents the UK’s live music and entertainment sector, along with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) for their European shows. Advertisement Along with playing fan favourites like ‘Kid A’, Radiohead would also perform ‘Just’ for the first time in 16 years, trotting out deeper cuts like ‘Climbing Up The Walls‘ and ‘Like Spinning Plates‘ as well. Elsewhere, Paul Thomas Anderson and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood want their Phantom Thread music removed from the new ‘Melania’ documentary.
