The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.1 percent to 97.161 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1845 dollars from 1.1854 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3559 dollars from 1.3632 dollars in the previous session. The U.S. dollar bought 153.39 Japanese yen, lower than 153.49 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.7705 Swiss francs from 0.7692 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3641 Canadian dollars from 1.3635 Canadian dollars.
